So, I’m running a 10k.. in Orlando… in February. 6.2 miles might seem like no big deal to many of you, but for someone who hasn’t run outside (let alone in Florida heat and humidity) since the high school lacrosse days.. this could be interesting.
As some of you know may know, I volunteer weekly with Big Brothers, Big Sisters Los Angeles, where I provide mentorship and support to my “little sister.” The the future of all children- their health, education, wellbeing, etc. is an area I have been passionate about for quite sometime, which is why this particular race seemed like a perfect fit.
The Princess Half Marathon (or in my case 10k) raises money for Children’s Miracle Network (or CMN). Children's Miracle Network is a collection of hospitals across the country; many of you are probably familiar! The dollars you donate to this incredible organization go toward a number of things:
Providing better care for children with cancer, diabetes, trauma, surgeries, and for babies in NICU
Research for children’s diseases
Alleviating financial burden on the families
Creating dream days and special events for children who’ve lost hope
Bringing in service dogs, celebrity heroes, etc.
My goal is to raise $2500, although I would love to surpass that. If you have the means, I would greatly appreciate your support in any shape or form... even just some encouraging words!
With Love and Gratitude,
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® is the presenting sponsor and celebratory charity of the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend. Funds raised for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in conjunction with this magical event will help kids grow up happily ever after. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals raises funds and awareness for 170 children’s hospitals in the U.S. and Canada, which, in turn, use the money where it’s needed the most.
